    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           Churchill Meadows Community Centre in Mississauga
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;

          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           The event brought together participants, sponsors, community partners, volunteers, and staff to celebrate the impact of the program and recognize the courage and dedication of participants who have taken important steps toward improving their mental well-being.

           A Community United for Mental Wellness

      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h3&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           The celebration highlighted the power of community support in promoting mental health and well-being. Participants shared the space with community leaders, partner organizations, and supporters who have helped make this program possible.

      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

            At MIAG Centre for Diverse Women &amp;amp; Families, our mission has always been clear: to strengthen the well-being, capacity, and connection of individuals and families across diverse ethno-cultural communities in the Region of Peel. One of the most powerful ways we fulfill this mission is through the

           HEAL Network
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            — a vital initiative that brings people together to learn, share, and take collective action toward healthier lives.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Health is not just about medical care. It’s about community, confidence, access, culture, and support. The HEAL Network was built on this understanding — recognizing that newcomers, racialized communities, women, seniors, and families often face unique barriers that traditional programs don’t fully address.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           And that’s exactly why the HEAL Network matters so deeply.

           What Is the HEAL Network?

            The HEAL Network is a collaborative program designed to promote

           Health Education, Advocacy, and Leadership
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           within the community. Through workshops, discussions, peer-learning sessions, and culturally responsive resources, the network creates a safe and supportive space where participants can:

           At the MIAG Centre for Diverse Women &amp;amp; Families, we believe that true well-being is about more than physical health; it’s about connection, confidence, and community.
           &#xD;

      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           For more than a decade, MIAG’s Women’s Health and Well-Being Hub has supported women of all ages and backgrounds in Mississauga, Brampton, and Caledon to lead healthier, happier, and more connected lives. What began as a simple exercise and nutrition program has grown into a safe, inclusive space where women can move, learn, and belong.

           A Space to Move, Heal, and Grow
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h2&gt;&#xD;
&lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
&lt;div data-rss-type="text"&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h3&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Movement for Every Woman
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h3&gt;&#xD;
&lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
&lt;div data-rss-type="text"&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Each week, women gather for an hour of guided movement, from gentle yoga to energizing aerobics and Zumba. Certified instructors lead sessions designed for all fitness levels, encouraging every participant to listen to her body and enjoy the process.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
&lt;div data-rss-type="text"&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h3&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Joy in Motion
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h3&gt;&#xD;
&lt;/div&gt;&#xD;

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           What makes these classes special is the atmosphere. Music from different cultures fills the room, laughter replaces hesitation, and newcomers are welcomed with open arms.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           As one participant shared:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

           “The exercises, the music, the participants, the instructor, all bring their own ethnicity, creating this rich environment and sense of unity.”

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           It’s a place where wellness feels joyful and shared, where each step, stretch, and smile strengthens not just the body, but the spirit too.

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Healthy Eating Made Simple
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

&lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
&lt;div data-rss-type="text"&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Following each exercise session, participants come together for a Healthy Eating &amp;amp; Nutrition workshop led by holistic nutritionists and guest facilitators. These interactive demonstrations introduce simple, nutritious recipes from around the world, offering practical ways to make healthy eating enjoyable and culturally relevant.

    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;/div&gt;&#xD;

  &lt;h3&gt;&#xD;

           Sharing Culture Through Food

    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           But beyond food, these sessions create space for meaningful connection. Women share traditions, swap recipes, and discuss how small changes can make a big difference in their health and energy.

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

           "The program is fun and informative at the same time,” said participant Abeer Musleh. “It really contributes to my physical and mental well-being. The social connections are great. I also learned about other cultures and their food."

           “Being a single mom of three, I am often tired,” shared Tricia Aligour. “After Zumba I feel really good — like I did something for myself that has great benefit.”

            , our community came together for something truly special our very first

      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           Breakfast Fundraising Event

    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           ! As the doors opened and the aroma of fresh coffee and warm food filled the room, we could already feel the energy of connection, generosity, and shared purpose in the air.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           This event was more than just a meal. It was a powerful moment of unity. A gathering of kind-hearted individuals who believe in the work we do and the impact we’re creating together. It was a morning filled with warm smiles, meaningful conversations, and an outpouring of support that left us truly moved.

           MIAG Centre for Diverse Women &amp;amp; Families hosted an unforgettable Gala Event on May 13, 2023, at the Mississauga Valley Community Centre, commemorating the successful completion of two impactful programs: Self Employment for Immigrant Women and Parenting for Success. The occasion not only surpassed all expectations but also marked a remarkable achievement for MIAG and the communities it serves. With an astounding turnout of 402 participants, the Gala Event exuded a vibrant and energetic atmosphere, embodying the spirit of empowerment and inclusivity.
          
                    &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
                      
            
          
                    &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
                      
           The celebration showcased the achievements and milestones accomplished in the Parenting for Success project, a family program aimed at enhancing parenting skills, funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation. The program provided free training for parents and caregivers from diverse communities and their children, covering various family and parenting-related topics in English, Arabic, Spanish, and Mandarin, benefiting residents of Peel. Led by a children's specialist, the children's program focused on developing social skills through engaging games and activities. Workshops were delivered by professionals, addressing subjects such as children's mental health and parent-school engagement. "It's hard to imagine how far the program has come, and it has touched the lives of over 700 parents and their children. It's truly amazing to see how language and culture-specific programming can resonate so profoundly with diverse community members," said Yasmine Behiry, Program Manger.

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;

           During the Gala, the spotlight also shone on the accomplishments of 27 inspiring women entrepreneurs who had completed the Self Employment for Immigrant Women program funded by the Mariam Assefa Fund and the Tamarack Institute. These exceptional individuals showcased their diverse businesses, highlighting the wealth of talent and creativity within the immigrant community. Adding to the festivities, three entrepreneurs from the same program offered their catering services, treating attendees to a delightful culinary experience. One standout participant entrepreneur even took charge of overseeing all the digital marketing efforts leading up to the event, a testament to the program's capacity to nurture leadership and initiative.

Cake decoration and a captivating magic show provided entertainment for guests of all ages, making the evening truly memorable for everyone present.

This initiative not only added to the excitement of the Gala but also underscored the organization's dedication to creating opportunities for economic growth and prosperity within the immigrant community.

            , 2022, and its goal of providing educational and skill building sessions to Mississauga's resident women.  By financially supporting this program the Community Foundation of Mississauga helped women across Mississauga to enhance their learning of different essential life skills, how to be involved - especially during the pandemic and times of isolation, and how to expand their support network.

            The Women’s Empowerment Network program ran for 35 sessions on Fridays via Zoom from 10 am to 12 pm. The program was composed of two components, which supported physical movement and provided education to participants on a wide range of topics, some of which included:

            The Women’s Empowerment Network program welcomed professionals from various organizations and industries to facilitate sessions using their expertise on specific capacity and skill building topics. Through this program also a Facebook Group was created to encouraged participants to share their accomplishments and to remain in contact.

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
                        
            “MIAG is a place for me of learning, teaching and acceptance. The staff are respectful. I have already learnt a great deal from the Women Empowerment Network sessions. After only two classes l am getting confident and acquiring knowledge on Zoom. Another confidence booster was the personality colour test, it makes one accept who we are with pride. I recommend this program to others. These classes are essential for everyone. It gets us together; its a learning experience and we also get to meet new people. The facilitator is patient, respectful and always follows up with any questions. Thank you so much.” Participant Ann G.

           "I want to thank my amazing mother Mesoon Al-madani for picking up this award on my behalf and I want to thank Miag Centre and Fatena Akache for providing the great opportunity. I was teaching classes at the time and could not make it.
           
                      &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
                      
           Through this program, I had the opportunity to spend the year coaching parents and kids on how to best improve their communication skills with each other. I coached them on topics such as the 5 love languages, different personality styles, responsibilities in the home, school grades, work and fun balance, leading by example and so much more.
           
                      &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
                      
           I found it much more effective that both the parents and the kids were in the same room. It brought out some real and honest feedback and we were able to solve and answer the questions and concerns they had but were never able to voice."
