Mental Health Awareness and Wellness program

No Health Without Mental Health

We are excited to announce the rebranding of our Ethno-Cultural Communities Well-being (ECCW) project to the new name, Mental Health Awareness and Wellness. This change reflects our ongoing commitment to rebrand this project by responding to participants’ suggestions and to the emerging needs in the society. Our updated name aligns with our mission to provide valuable resources and education that help everyone thrive.

The Mental Health Awareness and Wellness program project focuses on promoting mental health & well-being in the community by providing information on the signs/symptoms of different mental health illnesses, shares resources to help people who are facing mental health challenge or crisis, and the importance of self-care. This project aims to combat the stigma around mental health and to disseminate awareness around mental well-being. The two components to the project are the course workshops and the counselling services.

This project consists of two components:

Course Workshops  | Counselling Services (click here to learn more)

Course Workshops

The project offers five different courses that address mental health. These courses include: Early Development and Mental Health, Youth Mental Health and Substance Use, Understanding Mental Health and Challenges, Aging in Society and Mental Health, and Emotional Wellness and Mental health. Each course is offered twice throughout the year either in the mornings and/or evenings. Each course is a four-week workshop that runs once a week for two hours.

(Dates/Times Subject to Change)

Early Development and Mental Health: Coming Soon

Youth Mental Health and Substance Use: Coming Soon

Understanding Mental Health and Challenges: Coming Soon

Emotional Wellness and Mental Health: Coming Soon

Aging in Society and Mental Health: Coming Soon

After completing the courses, participants are encouraged to engage in personal reflections with their networks, further promoting mental health awareness and support within their communities. Upon completion of the sessions and personal reflection, participants receive certificates.

This programming model multiplies recipients’ number and takes the ripple effect far in the community. Just in the past year, more than a thousand people were reached with the message of mental health and well-being.

For any questions or inquiries regarding the program, please contact project coordinator Solinas Elgamal  at solinas@miag.ca or call (437) 220-6659.

Let's embark on this journey together, fostering a community of understanding and resilience as we prioritize mental health and well-being for all.
