Mental Health First Aid (Standard) Training

What we are providing
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an evidence-based training program developed by the Mental Health Commission of Canada. This course empowers participants with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health problems and crises.
Whether you are a parent, teacher, service provider, frontline worker or a friend, MHFA equips you to support others—while also protecting your own mental well-being.
Participants who complete this training will receive a nationally recognized certificate from the Mental Health Commission of Canada.
What You will Learn
Participants will gain practical tools to:
- Recognize signs of declining mental health and early warning signals of a crisis
- Engage in supportive, compassionate conversations
- Maintain personal well-being while helping others
- Connect individuals to appropriate professional or community resources
- Respond to mental health and substance use emergencies
Who Can Register?
Anyone 18+ is welcome. No previous mental health training is required.

Training Format
MHFA is delivered by certified trainer Solinas Elgamal and can be offered in-person or virtually to suit your needs.
Training Structure
Module 1: Self-directed online (Approx. 2 hours)
Module 2: Live session – 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM
Module 3:
Live session – 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM
* Module 1 will be sent via email two weeks before the live training.

Can you offer this training in-person?
Yes, we can offer this training in-person via request. Kindly fill out the form below to indicate your interest and provide more information.
What happens after I register?
You will receive a unique access code via email to begin your self-paced online module (Module 1).
Can I transfer my registration?
Yes, with 10+ business days' notice, your registration can be transferred to another date (subject to a $20 admin fee).
What is the cancellation policy?
MIAG may cancel or reschedule the training due to low registration, instructor illness, or public health advisories. If cancelled, you will receive a full refund or the option to reschedule. Please note, refunds are not provided for cancellations made within 10 days of the training date or for no-shows.
