What we are providing

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training provides the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to support a person who may be experiencing a decline in their mental well-being, a mental health or substance use crisis until professional help is available.
The practical skills of MHFA help you develop the confidence and peace of mind knowing you can support those around you, and your ability to self-care and prioritize your well-being while supporting others.
Implemented in 35 nations worldwide and with over 8 million people trained, MHFA is a global movement.


What You will Learn 


Participants will gain practical tools to: 

  • Recognize signs of declining mental health and early warning signals of a crisis
  • Engage in supportive, compassionate conversations
  • Maintain personal well-being while helping others
  • Connect individuals to appropriate professional or community resources
  • Respond to mental health and substance use emergencies

Anyone 18+ is welcome. No previous mental health training is required.

Training Format 

MHFA is delivered by certified trainer Solinas Elgamal  and can be offered in-person or virtually  to suit your needs. 

MHFA Essentials INTRO


MHFA Essentials is a suite of courses, focused on core knowledge and practical skills. The courses do not lead to Certification. Within the Essentials suite is a streamlined one-day course as well as adaptations to support unique populations and specific roles, including:
Designed to be accessible and applicable across many settings, Essentials offers a strong foundation in MHFA principles without formal assessment or certification—making it an ideal option for individuals, teams, or communities seeking meaningful, time-efficient training.
Through the course, participants will:
  • Increase mental health awareness
  • Understand stigma, diagnostic labelling, and understanding to help
  • Learn how to use ALGES framework to support
  • Learn effective communication skills 
  • Learn reflective self-awareness
  • Review mental health support resource mapping

MHFA Certification INTRO 


MHFA Certification is an innovative and leading-edge program in the sector. Mental Health First Aid now offers official certification. This in-depth course, upon completion and assessment, provides participants:
  • Increase mental health awareness
  • Enhance mental health
  • Improve confidence to help
  • Decrease mental health stigma
The 2-day format of the MHFA Certification allows for robust, scenario-based training on the identification and support of declining mental health and crises, and provides a deeper understanding of mental health disorders and influences.

  • Can you offer this training in-person?

    Yes, we can offer this training in-person via request. Kindly fill out the form below to indicate your interest and provide more information. 

  • What happens after I register?

    You will receive an email from our Certified Facilitator, Solinas, with further information.

  • What is the cancellation policy?

    MIAG may cancel or reschedule the training due to low registration, instructor illness, or public health advisories. If cancelled, you will receive a full refund or the option to reschedule. Please note, refunds are not provided for cancellations made within 10 days of the training date or for no-shows.
