Technology is everywhere, from booking appointments to connecting with loved ones, but for many older adults, it can feel like a locked door. TechConnect 55+ is the key.

Offered by MIAG Centre for Diverse Women & Families, this program invites adults aged 55+ to step into the digital world with confidence, curiosity, and community.

It’s not just a class, it’s a transformation. Seniors move from digital dependence to digital independence, from “I don’t know how” to “I’ve got this.” With every tap, swipe, and click, participants unlock new ways to stay informed, connected, and in control.

Who Can Join

TechConnect 55+ welcomes adults aged 55+ living in Mississauga, Brampton, and Caledon. No prior experience is needed, just curiosity and a willingness to learn.

Intergenerational Support

At the heart of TechConnect 55+ is a bridge between generations. Youth Ambassadors provide friendly, supportive tech guidance, while senior volunteers share wisdom and leadership, promoting mutual respect and meaningful connections across ages.

Purpose, Power & Practical Skills

TechConnect 55+ offers hands-on learning tailored to seniors, covering:

• Smartphone, tablet, and computer basics
• Using WhatsApp, Zoom, email, and social media
• Online safety and scam prevention
• Accessing health portals, services, and banking
• Discovering apps for wellness and hobbies
• Using maps, transit, and community resources

Beyond the Screen

The program also includes:
• Info sessions on elder abuse prevention, dementia, mental health, and wellness
• Gentle fitness and movement activities
• Field trips to museums, parks, and cultural landmarks, helping participants apply digital skills in real life
