Ethno-cultural Communities Well-being
Our Mental Health & Well-Being is Important so
Let’s Keep Talking About Mental Health
The Ethno-Cultural Communities Well-Being (ECCW) project focuses on promoting mental health & well-being in the community by providing information on the signs/symptoms of different mental health illnesses, shares resources to help people who are facing mental health challenge or crisis, and the importance of self-care. This project aims to combat the stigma around mental health and to disseminate awareness around mental well-being. The two components to the project are the course workshops and the counselling services.
This project consists of two components:
Course Workshops | Counselling Services
Course Workshops
The project offers five different courses that address mental health. These courses include: Early Development and Mental Health, Youth Addictions and Mental Health, Disorders and Mental Health, Aging in Society and Mental Health, and Emotional Wellness and Mental health. Each course is offered twice throughout the year either in the mornings and/or evenings. Each course is a four-week workshop that runs once a week for two hours.
(Dates/Times Subject to Change)
Pre-registration is now open for June 2024

Participants of the program are encouraged to deliver a presentation about the course they attended to their community networks which can include their family and friends. Upon completion of the sessions and community presentations, participants receive certificates.
This programming model multiplies recipients’ number and takes the ripple effect far in the community. Just in the past year, more than a thousand people were reached with the message of mental health and well-being.
Counselling Services
MIAG has established partnership with several agencies to which referrals are sent. Our intake worker assesses the clients' needs and completes the necessary referral forms, directing them to the appropriate counsellor based on their specific requirements. Additionally, we offer support to clients by connecting them to community resources and services, including but not limited to food banks, legal aid, and social support programs. These services may be provided through phone, virtual, or in-person counselling sessions. We recognize that each person is different and has unique social, physical, emotional, spiritual and psychological needs. Each person has also innate abilities, strengths and skills for survival. The services that are referred from MIAG incorporate the person’s strengths, preferences, needs and aspirations into the treatment plan. Clients receive services that are client centred and meet their needs
